Annual irrigated agricultural production in Queensland is conducted on around 500,000 ha by 7,600 irrigators, applying around 2 million megalitres.  The gross value of irrigated production is around $3 billion annually (one third of the gross value of agricultural production within the state).

Surface irrigation is used on around 45 percent of the irrigated area, with sprinkler irrigation used on 44 percent and micro-irrigation (surface and sub-surface drip, trickle and microspray) on 11 percent of the irrigated area.

The tools available on this website have been developed to aid irrigators in planning the amount of water needed to irrigate broadacre crops and how best to schedule irrigatons to maximise profitability acrosss all fields on their farm.
